SUBJECT ARRESTED FOR ENTICEMENT OF A MINOR
On Wednesday, July 25, at approximately 12:00 p.m. (noon) a male subject was charged by the Scott County Sheriff's Office after he initiated contact via computer with an undercover Detective posing as the child, with the intent to meet the child for a sex act. The Sheriff's Office Detective is a member of the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The subject was taken into custody without incident at the Sheridan Meadows Park in Eldridge, after he arrived to meet the child. The subject was identified and charged as follows:
Name: Steven William Bentley, age 52 of Oelwein, Iowa
Charge: Enticement of a Minor
Bentley was booked into the Scott County Jail on $5,000.00 bond. The Scott County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Eldridge Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff's Office, and the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The case remains under further investigation.
